Victoria Secret shoplifters captured by police
WALNUT CREEK CA Sept 2 2018 — Two women and a man suspected of stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of Victoria’s Secret clothing items at stores in Walnut Creek and Newark won’t get to wear or resell them after being arrested while fleeing from the Walnut Creek store Thursday evening, authorities said.
The suspects’ names were not released.
Walnut Creek Sgt. Tony Mangini said police received a report about 5:44 p.m. Thursday that the three suspects had entered the Victoria’s Secret, 102 Broadway Lane in Broadway Plaza and fled after grabbing various clothing items.
Witnesses provided detailed descriptions of the three suspects and police spotted them in a 2006 Honda Odyssey van, which they pulled over at 5:47 p.m on Newell Avenue near Maria Lane.
Inside the van police recovered thousands of dollars’ worth of clothing, not only from the Walnut Creek store but also from the Victoria’s Secret at Newpark Mall in Newark, authorities said.
Newark police Capt. Chomnan Loth said their theft happened about 3:45 p.m. Thursday and the loss was bras and shorts. A man and woman were the ones who actually took the items and apparently fled into a waiting vehicle, he said.
The stores specialize in lingerie, lounge wear, pajamas and beauty products.
The suspects were booked at the Martinez Detention Center on suspicion of commercial burglary.
