Victoria’s Secrets East Coast theft ring hit Lehigh Valley mall
Lebanon County PA Aug 16 2017 A Baltimore woman is accused of being part of a Victoria’s Secrets theft ring that hit stores on the East Coast, including in the Lehigh Valley.
Twanika Greer, 24, is one of five people who have been charged with stealing thousands of dollars worth of lingerie from Victoria’s Secret stores in Lebanon Valley Mall in Lebanon County, and the Berkshire Mall in Berks County.
Now Greer is charged with a heist from a store in the South Mall in Salisbury Township.
Greer is being held in Berks County Jail on $250,000 bail, and was arraigned Monday on charges of robbery, conspiracy, retail theft and simple assault in the South Mall case. Her bail was set at $35,000 in the Lehigh County case.
Salisbury Township police said Greer and two others hit the South Mall Victoria’s Secret on the afternoon of April 2.
The trio walked in with tote bags, and started filling the bags with items on display at the front of the store, police said. When the manager walked over and asked if she could help them, Greer allegedly said, “better back off you are going to get maced.”
The trio fled the store, and were walking down a hallway when employees from a sporting goods store tried to stop them, according to township police. Greer reportedly said “Don’t touch me or we will mace you,” and then got into a waiting car.
The group got away with 77 items worth a little more than $3,000, police said.
A break in the theft ring came on May 19, according to prosecutors, when Greer and four others were arrested after a similar theft at the Berkshire Mall.
The group was caught after their getaway vehicle crashed, according to WFMZ.
Mall employees identified Greer from a photo lineup as the one who threatened to mace, Salisbury Township police said.
A township police officer went to Berks County Jail to interview Greer last month. Greer reportedly said she did not go farther north than Berks County, and did know the location of Allentown.
Greer told the officer she was working the day of the South Mall thefts, but her workplace said she did not work that day, according to police.
