The sounds that we heard New Year’s Eve was more than just common fireworks.
Across the nation, between 12:01 on Tuesday and 06:00 on Wednesday, there were 63 known shootings involving private security resulting in at least four security officers being shot.
Of those shot during the eve of New Year’s and New Year’s Day, three were involved in shooting incidents at nightclubs/bar and one was involved in an altercation situation that happened at an apartment complex.
A confirmed total of security officers shot during the month of December was 91 with 13 security officers dying on duty during the month.
312 deadly force incidents against and by security officers occurred during December. Those numbers are incidents confirmed but the total is at least ten percent higher.
The actual confirmed incidents are still be collected and a full report of security officer deaths will be issued on January 12th, 2020.
The one constant that we have seen during the last decade is that the Use of Force, especially lethal force that is being used against security personnel is increasing rapidly.
