Violent St. Joe’s Patient Attacks Nurse, Security Guard
JOLIET, IL April 15 2021— A 26-year-old Joliet man remains in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say he attacked a nurse and a private security guard inside the AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center’s emergency room early Monday morning.
After responding to the disturbance call, Joliet police arrested Corey Measaw on two counts of aggravated battery and one charge of obstructing justice.
The incident happened shortly before 6 a.m., police said.
“Upon arrival, it was determined that Measaw had struck a nurse. A security guard intervened at which time he was struck by in the face by Measaw who then attempted to place the guard in a headlock,” Joliet police reports show.
The St. Joe’s hospital staff grabbed Measaw and gained control of him while others called 911.
According to police, Measaw was allowed to remain at the hospital to be seen for his original medical issues. Then, he was placed into custody later in the day around 3:30 p.m.
However, Measaw refused to comply with booking procedures while at the Joliet Police Department, and he was then transported to the Will County Jail, police reports show.
Measaw lives in the 2300 block of Essington Road, jail records indicate.
