Virginia Beach Security Officr Intentionally Struck by Vehicle
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. A privately-hired security guard who works at the Upscale Restaurant & Lounge in Virginia Beach was struck by a car last week after having to remove people from the venue for being too intoxicated.
The man said that after removing the two people, one of them tried to pick a fight with the man, while the other drove his car into him, an event partially captured on video and shared with 10 On Your Side.
While he wished not to be identified or recorded, the man wanted to speak to 10 On Your Side to spread the word about what happened. He also hopes the man responsible will be arrested.
The security guard told 10 On Your Side he had walked outside the venue to the parking lot because the venue owner asked that he put one of the other men in handcuffs.
That’s when the driver got in his car and drove away, the security guard said, but not before doing a U-turn and speeding toward him. The security officer did not have time to step out of the way, he said, so he tried his best to jump over the car, but he was struck by its windshield and launched into the air. The security officer told 10 On Your Side he knows who the driver is and has contacted police.
The week before, the security guard said he removed the same man for trying to smoke cannabis in the nightclub.
The guard said he had to get staples put into the back of his head after it was cut, but they were recently removed. He said he is having a hard time walking and has cuts and bruises all over his legs and left knee.
Virginia Beach Police confirmed this is an active investigation.
