Walker County GA deputy charged with raping woman while on duty, in uniform
WALKER COUNTY, Ga. June 2 2022 — An 80-year-old Walker County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been arrested and charged with rape, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. (Note: The GBI confirms he is 81, but Sheriff Steve Wilson says he’s 80)
On Tuesday, GBI agents arrested Deputy Jerry Glover of Rock Spring and charged him with rape, violation of oath of office and false imprisonment.
A release says the incident happened on May 11th of this year.
Sheriff Steve Wilson says the allegation is that while on duty, Deputy Glover pulled up to the home of the victim, went inside, forced her to have sex and then went back into service.
The woman reported the incident to LaFayette Police a couple hours later.
The LaFayette Police Department asked the GBI to get involved in the investigation.
The GBI says “the investigation revealed that Glover had sex with a woman without her consent while on duty and in uniform.”
We’ve also reached out to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson for comment.
He told us Glover was placed on administrative leave when the investigation began. He was fired on May 27th and arrested May 31st.
Wilson says his warrants were taken out by the GBI.
Sheriff Wilson says Glover has been employed at his office for the last 7 years, assigned as a court officer.
Wilson says in the 1980s to early 1990s, he also worked at the Walker County Sheriff’s Office. Before that, he worked for the Atlanta Police Department.
Glover will appear in court on June 9th.
