Warrant issued for woman charged with shooting 2 security officers
SALT LAKE CITY UT July 17 2022 — An arrest warrant has been issued for a Salt Lake woman accused of injuring two people in a drive-by shooting in Salt Lake City.
Aaliyah M. Villagrana, 20, was charged Friday in 3rd District Court with two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of shooting a gun causing injuries, second-degree felonies.
On June 12, a large party was being held at a business, 368 W. 900 South. A security guard told police that a “commotion” was started when a group of men were not allowed inside, charging documents state. Two security guards ended up being shot in their lower legs.
Salt Lake police responded to the area and learned that a Jeep parked nearby also had two bullet holes in it.
Based on evidence collected by detectives, Villagrana and a man were identified by police as possible suspects.
One of the injured security guards stated that as he was lying on the ground, he saw the couple drive away and identified Villagrana as the shooter, the charges state.
A warrant was issued Friday for Villagrana’s arrest. As of Friday, no charges have been filed against the man.
