Washington man arrested for pulling gun on security officer
YAKIMA, Wash. December 11 2018— A 23-year-old man was arrested Friday night after police say he pulled a gun on a security guard in the parking lot near the SunDome building.
Witnesses told Yakima police the incident happened about 9:30 p.m. after the 23-year-old walked out of an event with alcohol in his hand, accompanied by another man.
When the security guard confronted him for taking alcohol out of a private holiday party in the State Fair Room, the 23-year-old pulled a firearm from his waistband and pointed the gun at the guard and threatened him, according to court documents.
The security guard backed off and radioed for help, while the 23-year-old put the gun back in his waistband and got into the passenger side of a truck driven by the other man, according to court documents.
Witnesses told police they saw the suspect shoot his gun into the air several times in the 800 block of La Salle Street.
The 23-year-old appeared Monday in Yakima County Superior Court. He is being held in the Yakima County jail on suspicion of first-degree assault and reckless driving, in lieu of $75,000 bail.
