Watchful security guard alerts Cypress Police to commercial burglary in progress
Cypress CA June 30 2020
Early this morning on June 22, at about 12:30 AM, Cypress Police Officers responded to 10582 Walker for a reported burglary-in-progress at a local business.
Unfortunately for the burglars, this property was being remotely monitored by a security guard, who saw one suspect climbing a fence and onto the property.
Officers arrived to find the suspects forced entry into the building and had already set aside some expensive tools near the entry point.
We were unable to immediately locate the burglars but conducted an area search with help from our friends at Seal Beach, Buena Park, Anaheim, and Los Alamitos Police Departments.
Two suspects were located hiding on the roof of an adjacent building. One surrendered to officers on the roof, while the other broke into a second business to escape. He later surrendered to the police K9.
One suspect, Chad Carpenter, was arrested for burglary, conspiracy, and several arrest warrants. The second suspect, Kevin Walker, was arrested for burglary and conspiracy. Both were booked into Orange County Jail.
Special thanks to our partner agencies and the watchful security guard who helped us stop this crime in progress!
