Week-End Violence Rocks Private Security Industry- 4 Security Officers Dead
March 13 2018Â Five persons were killed by security officers, four security officers were shot to death, and nine other lethal force incidents all rocked the private security world in one week-end.
Police in thirteen states responded to and are currently investigating incidents of violence involving private security officers working at nightclubs, a church, 2 shopping centers, a hotel and 2 apartment complexes.
The Jacksonville Florida Sheriff’s Office report that an armed security officer shot at three suspects trying to rob a store on Beach Blvd. resulting in two fatalities.
The men, all armed with firearms, attempted to rob the business when the security officer fired multiple shots to protect the business and their customers.
Police in rural North Carolina reported that three people including the security guard was shot to death early Saturday morning.
A suspect was arrested in that incident.
A Walnut California security officer was arrested after beating a fellow security officer to death with a metal pipe. Police do not have a motive in the murder.
A Dallas security officer is under investigation after shooting a female to death outside the King’s Cabaret.
Police state that they do not know what caused that security officer to pull his weapon.
Police in Anchorage say that two hotel security officers intervened Sunday when a man stabbed two persons outside of the restaurant.
The security officers chased the man, subduing him and fired shots when he attacked them while handcuffing him.
A security officer was killed in NYC during a struggle with a man with a knife. NYPD report that the security officer was stabbed repeatedly after trying to escort the man out of the bar. Police have not made an arrest.
Memphis Tennessee security officers found themselves in the mix of a carjacking, stabbing and police pursuit Sunday morning.
A 21-year-old man involved in the incident that began at a Kroger store was arrested after stabbing two people and carjacking a couple before crashing in a Memphis neighborhood in a crime spree that spanned nearly 20 miles, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said the suspect then nearly ran over a security guard at Hope Presbyterian Church on Walnut Grove Road.
Another security guard shot at him, hitting the car and doing enough damage that it could only reach speeds of about 30 miles per hour.
A security officer in Glendale California fired numerous gunshots during a robbery at a jewelry store located in the Glendale Galleria.
The men, armed with mini sledgehammers began breaking jewelry case glass when the shooting occurred. No one was injured and police are still investigating the incident.
The manager and security guard of the Temptations Cabaret, located in the 12200 block of Camp Bowie Boulevard in Aledo Texas were both murdered.
The shooting occurred as a result of an employee disturbance after she was told that she could not work Thursday night. Police say that the employee’s boyfriend then got involved and fatally shot the men.
