West Virginia Wesleyan College student arrested with drugs and a gun
BUCKHANNON, W.Va. Feb 15 2019– A West Virginia Wesleyan College student has been arrested after officers recovered marijuana and a firearm in his dorm room.
On Monday, February 11, officers with the Buckhannon Police Department were notified by Wesleyan Security officers that they had received information about an odor of what appeared to be marijuana emitting from a dorm room at Dunn Hall.
Wesleyan Security located the room and spoke to the resident, Taylor Kulla, 21, of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, in reference to the odor coming from his room, according to police.
Kulla provided security officers with a vape pen device used to smoke THC oil and admitted to smoking in the dorm room, officers said.
Security officers then conducted a brief search of Kulla’s room, in compliance with their policy and procedure and student handbook.
During the search, security officers located pre-packaged marijuana, materials used for the packaging and distribution of marijuana and cash, according to a criminal complaint.
Security officers also located a 9-millimeter pistol inside of a backpack.
Police said that according to the 2018-2019 edition of the Residence Life Accommodations and Polices Agreement, firearms possession on campus is prohibited.
Kulla has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of a deadly weapon on premises of an educational facility.
