Wife of Birmingham Alabama police officer killed in hunting accident

A Blount County woman was killed in a hunting accident Sunday afternoon in Tallapoosa County.
The Tallapoosa County Coroner identified the victim as Donna Doran. She was 48 and lived in Cleveland.
Sheriff Jimmy Abbett said the shooting happened at 11:36 a.m.
Deputies responded to the incident on Centerpoint Road south of Dadeville.
The preliminary information from the scene was that an individual was removing a rifle from the rear seat of a vehicle when the weapon discharged, and Doran was wounded.
Doran was taken to Lake Martin Community Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The sheriff said the investigation is ongoing by the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office and Alabama Game and Fish.
The probe is pending the results of an autopsy from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
Doran was the wife of a veteran Birmingham police officer.
The couple’s son was killed just six months ago in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 65 two miles north of Warrior.
