Woman, 73, helps police nab shoplifter in Natick
Natick MA July 28 2018 Natick police were able to arrest a shoplifter Tuesday night thanks to the bravery of a feisty 73-year-old woman who stopped the suspect from driving off with her car, police said.
A Natick police officer was on detail at the Natick Mall shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday when he saw mall security chasing three people.
Two of them managed to outrun security, but the other, later identified by police as Rickchelle Olivieri, 27, ran to a car and unsuccessfully tried to open the driver’s door, stopping traffic, said Natick Police Lieutenant Cara Rossi.
Olivieri, a resident of Central Falls, Rhode Island, then ran to another car and got in through the rear passenger’s side door. Police initially thought the driver in the car was Olivieri’s getaway driver, Rossi said.
