Woman assaulted Buckland Hills mall security guard in parking lot
MANCHESTER NH Aug 24 2018 — Police have charged an East Hartford woman with assault related to a June attack on a security guard at Buckland Hills Mall.
The woman, Shanoa Allen, 32, Olmsted Street, was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, police said.
According to the affidavit supporting Allen’s arrest, police responded June 15 to a report of an assault in the Buckland Hills mall parking lot.
Police found a mall security guard with an abrasion on her left knee, according to the affidavit. Police also spotted a white vehicle fleeing the scene.
The security guard told police that the woman driving the white vehicle, later identified as Allen, said she accused the guard of nearly causing a collision in the parking lot.
The security guard said that as she parked her car, the white vehicle followed her. Allen then walked over to her and slapped the security guard in the face through the car’s open window.
When the guard got out of her vehicle, Allen threw her to the ground, causing the abrasion on her knee, she told police.
According to the affidavit, Allen later told police that she had confronted the security guard at her car window, but walked away from the vehicle when the guard began yelling.
Allen said that the guard then got out of her vehicle and ran at her, and Allen threw her to the ground in self-defense.
Allen told police she left the scene because she did not believe she had done anything wrong.
According to court records, Allen in the past has been found guilty of second-degree conspiracy to commit burglary and of assault of public safety or emergency medical personnel, and twice been found guilty of second-degree breach of peace.
Allen is also awaiting disposition in Hartford Superior Court on three counts of second-degree forgery, one count of first-degree larceny, and one count of third-degree identity theft, court records show.
Manchester police released Allen from custody on a promise to appear. Allen’s arraignment for the Aug. 16 charges is scheduled for Sept. 6 in Manchester Superior Court.
