Woman assaults security officers during shoplifting detention
Norridge IL July 8 2018
A 39-year-old Aurora woman was charged July 1 with retail theft and battery, as well as having outstanding warrants after a Norridge police officer was dispatched to Kohl’s at 4220 N. Harlem Ave.
Loss prevention agents had Ingrid Campos, of the 1900 block of Lilac Lane in custody when officers arrived.
The officer was told that Campos was seen entering the store and that she started to select merchandise.
Police said she was then seen concealing the merchandise in her purse and proceeding to exit. She was stopped by loss prevention with the help of plaza security.
As the plaza security officer attempted to escort her into the store, she refused to go back and attempted to push away from the security officer and attempted to flee.
Police said she caused injury to both of the security officer’s knees.
She was escorted back into the store, where the merchandise, valued at $164.97 was recovered. The officer took her to the station.
Dispatch advised him that she had active warrants out of Niles and Chicago.
Police then issued two I-bonds.
A Niles police officer later arrived at the station and took custody of her, as well as her property.
