Woman charged with robbery in fight with Macy’s asset protection officer
Middletown PA December 28 2018
A Langhorne woman spent Christmas in the Bucks County Correctional Facility after an alleged shoplifting attempt turned ugly.
Middletown police said they were called to the Macy’s at the Oxford Valley Mall around 6:10 p.m. last Friday for a possible theft. They were advised a woman was fighting with a Macy’s asset protection officer.
According to court papers, Susan Holbrook Armstrong, 62, was “actively fighting” a female asset protection officer in the lower-level of the mall after the department store staff member attempted to stop her for suspect retail theft.
The asset protection officer told police that Armstrong pushed and bit her, causing bleeding, as the 62 year old woman attempted to leave the store. Two men reportedly stepped up to help break up the attack.
Police said that 25 pieces of Macy’s merchandise worth $1,424 were found with Armstrong. The items still had tags on and no receipts were found.
Armstrong was arraigned last Friday evening by on-call District Judge Jan Vislosky on charges of robbery, retail theft, receiving stolen property, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and false identification to a law enforcement officer. She was remanded to county lockup on 10 percent of $150,000 bail.
