Woman pepper sprays Walmart security during theft
Austin TX April 16 2019 A woman accused of attempting to shoplift at a South Austin Walmart is now facing a felony assault charge for allegedly pepper spraying the store’s security employees during her escape, according to court documents.
Dalia Marie Lopez, 20, is charged with second-degree felony robbery by assault.
It happened at the Walmart located at the intersection of south MoPac and West Hwy 290.
The arrest affidavit says Lopez was with two other women when she tried to leave the store with a cart full of unpaid merchandise. When security tried to stop them, she hit them with pepper spray.
She left the cart to make her escape, but an employee was able to take a picture of the license plate of the car she left in. She was later identified after the car was pulled over in East Austin.
Online records on Friday showed Lopez in custody at the Travis County Jail with a $6,000 bond.
