Park Ridge IL December 3 2018
Venus Austin, 54, of the 200 block of Orchard Drive, Park Forest, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon on Nov. 19 in connection with an incident involving a loaded handgun that was reported on Oct. 30 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, police said.
According to police, hospital security discovered a loaded gun under a parked car in the emergency room parking lot.
Surveillance video footage of the lot showed a woman, later identified as Austin, parking a gold 2006 Chevy Impala in the parking space and placing a .380-caliber handgun on the ground under the car before walking into the hospital for medical treatment, police said.
A search of the car, which belonged to a Dolton man, revealed a second loaded gun inside the front passenger area, police said.
Austin was reportedly taken into custody by police after she was released from the hospital. Austin did not indicate why she had allegedly placed the handgun under the car, police said.
She was given a Nov. 30 court date.
