Woman with infant, teen attack Macy’s security officer in failed shoplifting attempt
JACKSON TWP. OH December 8 2018 A northwest Canton woman and a teenager took an 11-month-old boy to Belden Village Mall to assist their attempted theft of nearly $400 in merchandise from a department store, according to Stark County Jail records.
Police say Ladaisha O. Walker, 22, of 811 Oby Place NW, was inside Macy’s about 5 p.m. Thursday and placed items into the infant’s stroller. Then she tried to leave the store without paying.
Walker grabbed the approaching store loss prevention officer by the hand, bending it and threatening violence while the teen punched the officer in the face, the jail records show.
Walker and the juvenile then fled the store. Stark County court records show Walker carried the infant as she ran across the icy parking lot.
Police caught up and arrested her at 5:17 p.m. in the 4200 block of Everhard Road NW. She was jailed on charges of robbery, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and child endangering.
She remained in the jail Friday, held in lieu of $52,500 bond pending a Massillon Municipal Court hearing.
Information about the juvenile or what happened to the baby was not immediately available.
