Women caught shoplifting at GA Belk’s store assaulted security agent
Athens GA April 15 2019 A 54-year-old Lavonia woman and a 27-year-old Tennessee woman were arrested Tuesday night after they allegedly fought with a security officer who caught them shoplifting at the Belk department store at Georgia Square mall, Athens-Clarke County police said.
A traffic stop was conducted on their car and during a search of the vehicle police said they recovered clothing items with a total value of $484, tools for committing shoplifting, drugs and drug paraphernalia.
The women were each charged with theft by shoplifting, simple battery, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug-related objects and possession of tools for the commission of a crime, police said.
