Whatever it is, you can get it on eBay — even if it technically belongs to the Yonkers Police Department.
A Yonkers police officer has been arrested on grand larceny charges for allegedly stealing Department property and selling it online.
Christian Carrasco, 41, was arraigned today in Yonkers Criminal Court on three charges of grand larceny after he turned himself in to investigators.
The Department was notified early this year that police equipment was listed for sale on the online retail site eBay. Their investigation traced the seller’s account back to Carrasco, who was working in the emergency services unit.
The items stolen include two personal radiation detectors worth over $3,000.
“The Yonkers Police Department holds itself to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and transparency,” Commissioner John Mueller said in a press release. “No one is above the law, and this member will now face the consequences of his alleged misconduct.”
Carrasco, a 16-year veteran of the force, is suspended without pay pending termination.
