3 suspects in theft of $74,000 worth of products from Target caught
DOVER DE December 1 2019 — Three New York men were apprehended in the Wilmington area Monday after earlier stealing nearly $74,000 of Apple products from a Dover Target store, authorities said.
Brooklyn residents Jonathan Vinas, 28, Gilberto Cortez, 43, and Joey Lattimore, 34, were spotted in the parking lot of a Target parking lot in Brandywine and taken into custody by Delaware State Police.
Prior to that they had allegedly tried to shoplift from a Target in Christiana after leaving Dover, police said.
During the alleged try in Christiana loss prevention employees observed a vehicle and shared its description with regional Target stores, Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman.
The incident at 148 John Hunn Brown Road in Dover occurred at 9:35 p.m., police said. Three men broke into a secured case, took a variety of electronics and fled, according to authorities.
Charges included organized retail crime, possession of shoplifters tools and second-degree conspiracy.
The men were committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on $3,500 secured bonds.
