Salinas CA Sept 24 2018
A security officer on duty was the victim of a drive-by shooting according to police.
Police said that the shooting occurred outside Mariano’s Club on East Market Street about 12:30 a.m., when officers were alerted by an activated ShotSpotter, the police department’s gunshot-location system.
Several shots were fired at a security officer from a dark-colored SUV that had several people inside, Salinas police Cmdr. Bryan Cupak said.
Police responded and located several bullets strikes and it appears the guard was the intended target.
The security officer was not injured.
