Grapevine TX Burlington Coat Factory Loss Prevention Agent Raped Shoplifter
Grapevine TX Aug 13 2019
A loss prevention officer accused of raping a woman at Grapevine Mills mall may have sexually assaulted other women, police said Monday.
Grapevine police arrested Alex Taylor Landry, 27, on one count of sexual assault on Thursday.
A woman told police last month that a man caught her shoplifting May 6 from Forever 21 at the mall, then separated her from her fiancé and took her to an office at Burlington Coat Factory.
The man took of a photo of the woman and her driver’s license and told her she could be charged with a felony, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit.
He reportedly told her she could fix the problem, but not by paying for the merchandise.
The woman told police that the man had her raise her dress so he could check for hidden merchandise, then threatened again to send her to jail. When the woman begged him not to have her arrested, he sexually assaulted her, she said.
Investigators identified the man as Landry and met with him at Burlington Coat Factory.
They found a photo of the accuser sitting on a bench in the office, as well as a video of her, according to the affidavit.
Officials also found pictures of several other unidentified women in the office, as well as pornographic images and websites centered around coercing arrested women into sex, the affidavit says.
Grapevine police ask that any women Landry confronted contact them at 817-410-3200 during business hours or 817-410-8127 after hours.
Michael McGrath, a spokesman for Grapevine Mills, said the guard was employed by Burlington Coat Factory. A spokeswoman for Burlington Coat Factory could not be reached for comment.
Landry was released from the Tarrant County jail after posting $25,000 bond.
