Humboldt County marijuana guard burned out of his trailer during armed ambush
Humboldt County CA Nov 3 2019
Authorities and local media are reporting that a violent attack on a security guard at a permitted marijuana grow occurred Halloween night and that there at least six armed attackers.
There sheriff said that the man stormed the area and threw an incendiary device into the camper/trailer of the security guard and they also lit his vehicle on fire with possibly a Molotov cocktail of some type.
There was also an exchange of gunfire. One person involved was injured before the thieves fled.
The thieves could be charged with attempted murder, Lt. Greg Musson of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office said. He said that at about 12:15 a.m., “three to four subjects came on the property demanded to know where the money and marijuana was.” The men appeared to be in their 30’s or 40’s and were wearing “hoods”, he said.
The security guard for the property was in a 5th wheel on the property. According to Musson, “The crooks told him, either come out or we’ll burn you out.”
There was an exchange of gunfire and at least one person was hit.
Because the officers in charge hadn’t written up the report, he didn’t know how but the group of thieves set the 5th-wheeler on fire.
The security guard came out of the trailer and the crooks zip-tied the security guard and left him bound in a Conex box.
But, he noted, “This is the second time this has occurred to the same place within a matter of weeks. This is getting out of hand…Somebody’s going to get dead whether the crooks or the good guys.”
The Sheriff’s Department is short-handed, he said. “We have the money to hire people, but no one wants the job,” he told us. “It’s an industry wide problem in the US and in Canada.”
