University of Central Missouri student killed-1 person arrested
WARRENSBURG, Mo. November 7 2019
One University of Central Missouri student has been killed and another has been arrested after a Monday afternoon shooting on campus.
Officers with the University of Central Missouri Department of Public Safety responded to a report of an accidental discharge of a firearm at an on-campus apartment around 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Police said Stephon Abron, a student from St. Charles, Missouri, was shot and killed.
Another student, Jeremy Manley, has been arrested on a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
Authorities believe there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The university issued a statement saying the UCM community is saddened by the tragedy and that counseling will be offered for students in need of support.
