Detective Inspector James Wasiak: “This incident could’ve been much worse and the victim is extremely lucky he escaped with the injuries he did.
“As part of our inquiry specialist crime scene investigators have examined the scene and I’d like to thank the public for their patience while we closed the road to do this.
“Officers also continue to review CCTV footage from the area and we will soon be questioning the arrested woman about the incident.”
He added: “We’re also keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident who hasn’t yet spoken to us as well as any motorists who may have dashcam of the Church Road area around the time.”
