Man steals steaks, feigns illness and runs from police

A man was arrested at 11:59 a.m. Feb. 28 after trying to steal $68 worth of meat from a Drug Mart.
The man was stopped by store security when he was seen trying to put steaks under his sweatshirt.
While awaiting the arrival of police, the man “began dry heaving,” told store security officers he was sick, then ran from the store.
Police found the man coming out of a nearby restaurant and apprehended him after a short foot chase. The man was found with heroin and drug paraphernalia and had a warrant out of the Parma Heights Police Department for theft.
Management at the Independence Drug Mart said the man was suspected of stealing items from the store in the past. He was arrested for theft and banned from the store.
