Joliet man charged with assaulting hospital security personnel
JOLIET ILL Sept 30 2017 – A Joliet man was allegedly aggressive with security guards at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center and kicked a female guard in the pelvis, police said.
After 11 p.m. Wednesday, Lyle W. Williams Sr., 47, of the 2000 block of Oneida Street, was at the hospital’s emergency room waiting to be seen when he allegedly tried to enter a restricted area, said Joliet Police Deputy Chief Ed Gregory.
Williams allegedly took an aggressive stance toward two male security guards who approached him and they had to place him on the floor to restrain him, Gregory said. A female security guard also arrived to assist others in restraining Williams.
Joliet police officers arrived at the scene while three guards were holding him down. When the officers placed Williams in handcuffs and stood him up, he allegedly turned around, kicked the female security guard in the pelvic area and yelled an obscenity at her, Gregory said.
He also allegedly spat on the guards. After his arrest, he was charged with aggravated battery and criminal trespass to property.
Williams was booked into Will County jail shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
A warrant carrying a $475 bond for Williams’ arrest for failing to appear in court was issued Feb. 21, 2017. Williams pleaded guilty to retail theft on April 11, 2016 and given a conditional release of one year with a fine of $400.
The Will County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to revoke his conditional release for failing to pay the $400 fine.
