Alert Oxnard security officers help police capture burglar

An Oxnard man was arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary early Sunday morning.
Officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to a burglary call at 1:35 a.m. at Tomas Cafe, located at 622 South A St., police said.
Private security workers had witnessed the man, later identified as Juan Cardenas, 22, leaving Tomas Cafe and discarding a cash register, police said.
Officers arrived at the scene and saw Cardenas running through the businesses in Heritage Square, police said.
Officers contacted and detained him and learned that a cash register had also been removed at El Pollo Norteno located at 715 S. Oxnard Blvd., according to police.
Cardenas was arrested and booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of two felony charges of burglary, police said.
He is being held on $50,000 bail with a court hearing scheduled on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
