Another TSA employee dies from the Covid-19 virus
Washington DC October 6 2021
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced that another member of the TSA family has sadly passed.
Manuel “Manny” Quijano, a Supervisory Transportation Security Officer (STSO) at Tampa International Airport in Florida, passed away on Sunday, after contracting COVID-19.
Quijano joined TSA in 2002 when the checked baggage operation was still in the airport lobby.
He later assisted in transitioning the baggage operation to one of the first inline baggage systems in the country.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1992-1996 and was also a Pasco County Sheriff’s Deputy.
He will be greatly missed.
In September, the TSA announced that more than 10,000 employees have contracted the Covid-19 virus and that 28 had died. Recently two more employees succumbed to the virus and the current death toll is 31 TSA security personnel.
