Atlantic City casino security keeping visitors safe with cutting-edge thermal screening technology
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. June 29 2020– Behind all the glitz and glamour of welcoming customers back to Atlantic City casinos on July 2—casino employees have a new way of entering the house.
Ocean Casino Resort has installed cutting-edge thermal screening technology for its 3,000 workers to pass through, before they can begin their shifts at the massive resort that spans 20-beachfront acres.
“Scan their ID at the bottom of the iPad,” explained Donald Glaze, a security officer at Ocean Resort Casino. “Once you get a picture, you must stand back, and your forehead has to be in the frame of the picture, so we get a reading. That’s the only way you can get in. It has to take your temperature.”
In an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus, employees will be screened by thermal imaging non-contact cameras every single time they report for a shift, before they have any interactions with guests.
“Each employee has to tag in,” Glaze explained. “If you can’t clear on your tag, you won’t be able to come to work.”
While Atlantic City is the gaming mecca of the East Coast—the casinos are not gabling with the spread of the virus, so they have incorporated several health changes and rolled out new safety protocols.
