GREENVILLE, S.C. Sept 8 2020 Rappers Gucci Mane and Foogiano have been named in a wrongful death lawsuit filed on behalf of a 23-year-old woman who was fatally shot during a concert at a South Carolina nightclub. The administrator for the estate of Mykala Bell filed the lawsuit in Greenville County last week, The Greenville News reported Monday. The mother of two was standing near the stage when gunfire broke out in the early hours of July 5 at Lavish Lounge where Foogiano was performing, according to the lawsuit. Security guard Clarence Sterling Johnson, 51, was also killed and eight others were injured, authorities have said. Police charged Jarquez Kezavion Cooper, 22, in the shooting and said it appeared to be gang-related. The lawsuit alleged that Foogiano and attendees who came with him were not patted down before they entered the club and were allowed in with “deadly weapons.” The lawsuit said Gucci Mane was “believed to be” a promoter associated with the performance, though it did not say whether he was present at the event. It also named Cooper, as well as the club’s operating company, its owner and nearly a dozen other unspecified “owners, managers, operators, independent contractors, and/or security companies” accused of negligence for failing to provide adequate surveillance and security, and “permitting criminal activity,” among other allegations. The Greenville News said requests for comment from representatives for Gucci Mane and Foogiano were not immediately returned.

The family of a 59-year-old security guard who was fatally shot in front of a marijuana dispensary in Spring Valley in June has come up with a $3,000 reward for tips that lead to the arrest of the shooter. The reward adds to $1,000 that Crime Stoppers is offering in hopes that information from the public leads to an arrest in connection with the shooting of Kenneth Love II, whose relatives, pastor and a friend on Wednesday remembered as a friendly man who loved his family, God and his church community. Deputies found Love after responding to the shooting at the unlicensed dispensary on Troy Street near Sweetwater Road — just east of state Route 125— just after 11 p.m. June 2. Love died before he could be taken to a hospital. On Wednesday, authorities said detectives are seeking information about the shooter and the events that led to the shooting. Lt. Thomas Seiver said detectives are unsure if the shooting was a random or targeted attack. He said detectives have “thoroughly investigated” the case, adding that surveillance video from the dispensary was available. Joining Love’s family in asking anyone with information to step forward, Seiver said there were more than a dozen people who fled the area after the shooting and people in and around the dispensary at the time of the shooting may have information that could be helpful to investigators. “We need you to come forward and tell us what you saw,” the lieutenant said. Darryn Cooper, who called Love a dear friend, said an arrest in the case would bring a sense of peace, comfort and closure to Love’s family, including his wife, 12-year-old daughter and two adult sons. “We don’t want another family to go through what we’re going through today,” he said. Cooper sent a message to the shooter: “Do the right thing,” he said. “Turn yourself in.” Love’s nephew, Geoffrey Olson, called his death a senseless act of violence. “We are praying constantly for justice to be done,” said Pastor Laverne Mitchell of the House of Hope Community Church in Lemon Grove.
