Columbus Ohio security guard gunned down
COLUMBUS OH July 17 2018
A security officer has been shot dead and the suspect is on the run.
According to a press release, Robert Lamont Woods was a security guard at O’Toole’s Irish Pub and Grill, 4796 West Broad Street, 43228.
Woods, known to friends as Lamont, was reportedly escorting patrons to their vehicle when a second vehicle pulled up and the occupants fired several shots at him.
The sheriff’s office says Woods was struck by the gunfire. He was transported to Doctor’s West Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect vehicle was last seen on W. Broad St. fleeing toward I-270, according to the sheriff’s office.
The suspects are described as black males possibly in their early to mid-20s.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says it appears to be a targeted “hit” on the security guard but they don’t know why.
