Disturbance with hospital security ends in DUI arrest
WEYMOUTH MA Sept 5 2018— A Quincy man was arrested at South Shore Hospital and accused of a third drunken driving offense.
Robert Dixey, 49, was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, third offense; negligent operation of a motor vehicle and having open containers of alcohol in his vehicle.
The hospital’s security called police just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday and said Dixey and a woman he was with refused to leave the hospital’s parking lot, according to the police report. Police did not name the woman who was in Dixey’s car.
Police said they found nip bottles of vodka in the driver and passenger-door pockets of the car. Police said they also found a bag with two 10-packs of the bottles on the floor. Only 11 of those bottles were full.
According to police, Dixey said he had been driving the vehicle, but then denied it. He also said he didn’t know how the car got to the hospital. When asked to take a field-sobriety test, he refused and was arrested, police said.
The woman told police Dixey had picked her up on the side of the road and promised to bring her to Plymouth, but drove her to the hospital instead, according to the police report.
Dixey was scheduled to be arraigned in Quincy District Court Tuesday.
