River Island security guard William Smith was working in Liverpool city center when he recognised killer Michael Foran who was sentenced to life in prison in October 2019 for the brutal killing of a woman.
The River Island security guard spotted the wanted murderer on begging on the streets of Liverpool.
William Smith was working as guard in the city centre when he recognised killer Michael Foran and alerted police.
Foran strangled his girlfriend June Jones and then repeatedly stabbed her in a brutal attack at her West Bromwich flat in December 2018.
After going on the run, Foran was eventually tracked down and sentenced to life in prison in October 2019.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Will said: “I told [West Midlands Police] what I’d seen. They asked me to send the pictures, I sent them to them.
“They said they’d get to Liverpool for the Saturday morning. They came, introduced themselves and within half an hour this male was detained.”
June “Katie” Jones, 33, was found with 21 knife wounds around her neck and the left side of her chest and is believed to have lain dead in the bath of the flat she shared with Foran for three weeks before she was found.
Her body was only discovered when police forced their way in to the property on New Year’s Eve, 2018.
William identified him following a public appeal and alerted West Midlands Police to his whereabouts.
Dad-of-six Will shared a chain of emails between himself and West Midlands Police in which an officer thanked him for helping them capture the wanted man.
