An Enid police officer died after he was diagnosed with COVID-19, according to police department officials.
Officer Bart Arnold, a 20-year veteran of the force, died at his Enid home after he was recently diagnosed with the virus. Enid Police Department officials said Arnold was on light duty and recovering from a recent back surgery before his death.
Arnold joined the department on Oct. 22, 2001, and served his career in the patrol division. He also served as the department’s honor guard, officials said.
Before joining the Enid Police Department, Arnold served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a security policeman.
“Arnold, who proudly wore badge #805, was a dedicated officer, loyal friend and loving husband and father,” Enid Police Department officials posted on social media. “He will be sorely missed by everyone at the department and those who live in the community he so selflessly served.”
