Georgia Military College security guard arrested for bomb threat

A Hephzibah man was arrested Thursday after allegedly making a bomb threat to Georgia Military College branch campus in Martinez.
According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Robert Jackson, 29, was charged with making a false statement and terroristic threats and acts.
He was identified as a security guard at the college.
Jackson was identified as the person who made a phone call to police dispatch around 7:17 a.m. that a bomb was in his vehicle and he was walking around the school with an illegal firearm.
The director of the school requested a sweep by K-9′s, with Richmond County assisting. According to the sheriff’s office, Jackson was identified by a phone number obtained during the call.
He is currently being held at Columbia County Detention Center. Bond has been set at $10,200.
In a statement, the school says they contract out security detail through Sizemore, Inc.
Jackson was an officer recently put on the GMC-Augusta security detail, but will no longer be on it, the school said.
