Las Vegas casino security detain woman who drove recreational vehicle into building
NORTH LAS VEGAS NV October 28 2019
A woman crashed a recreational vehicle into a Las Vegas casino Friday and critically injured a hotel worker.
Cannery hotel-casino security helped remove the woman from the large recreational vehicle and detained her until metro police arrived.
Officers said that the large recreational vehicle drove through the main entrance of the Cannery hotel-casino on Craig Road on Friday morning at around 5: 20 a.m. and say that it was intentional.
The 66-year-old custodian for the hotel-casino who was hit and critically injured during the incident was rushed to a local hospital and listed in serious condition.
Boyd Gaming, which owns the hotel-casino, sent the following statement:
“We are focused and concerned on the welfare of our team member and we are in touch with the team member and their family to make sure he’s ok.”
The 50-year-old female driver, later identified as Jennifer Stitt, was taken into custody. It is not believed that she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at this time.
Police say that she had been trespassed from the property prior to the incident.
Police say that if security had not been there, she would have probably tried to hit as many people as she could.
Police say she will be charged with attempted murder along with other things.
The hotel-casino is still open, but the valet area and main entrance are closed.
