Man assaults security in Seattle building, says he has explosives
SEATTLE WA January 10 2019 – A man was arrested for assaulting security while attempting to enter the Federal Building on 1st Avenue in Seattle Saturday morning, according to the Seattle Police Department. Then, told officers he had explosives in the trunk of his car.
The 58-year-old man appeared to be highly agitated and in crisis, according to witnesses.
He was pepper-sprayed and detained by security personnel during the disturbance with security.
After his arrest, the suspect told officers he had explosives in his trunk, prompting police to block off 1st Avenue and call bomb detectives to the scene.
The man left his car in the middle of 1st Avenue where detectives and bomb-detection dogs checked the suspect’s vehicle, locating commercial-grade fireworks
Detectives confiscated the fireworks, the suspect’s vehicle was towed and the street reopened.
The man was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for assault, police report.
This remains an active and on-going investigation.
