Man drove into Parkdale Mall, stole jewelry

A 40-year-old Beaumont man was arrested after police said he drove his vehicle through the front entrance of Parkdale Mall Saturday evening and allegedly stealing jewelry.
Officers responded to a calls of alarms going off at the mall just before 8 a.m., Beaumont Police Department spokesperson Cody Guedry said.
“Upon arrival, officers noticed the glass doors of the main entrance were shattered,” he said. “Inside the mall, by American Jewelers, a burgundy Impala was parked and one of the doors to the kiosk was pried open.”
Guedry said mall security reviewed the video to get a description of the suspect, who police found in the mall parking lot lying down in the grassy area between Fuddruckers and Taco Bell.
“He was actually wearing some of the jewelry that he had taken from the kiosk,” Guedry said.
He said the crash caused approximately $30,000 in damage.
BPD arrested Garrick White on charges of criminal mischief and two counts of burglary. White is in the Jefferson County jail in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
