A man who beat up a security guard at a Myrtle Beach hotel was arrested Thursday, police say, after the victim recorded the attack on his cell phone.
Myrtle Beach police charged Christopher Lloyd with third-degree assault in connection to an attack on a security guard at the Holiday Inn Pavilion Hotel, 1200 N. Ocean Blvd. He was released on bond Thursday afternoon.
According to the arrest report, while on patrol around midnight Wednesday, the victim saw a white SUV with a few passengers in the hotel parking lot. The victim told them to leave the lot unless they were hotel guests.
That’s when Lloyd exited the car and started punching the guard until he fell to the ground, the report states.
The victim recorded the attack on his cellphone, the report stated. Police used traffic cameras to find the suspect’s vehicle at a nearby pub. Officers went there and detained Lloyd.
Police used the victim’s video to confirm Lloyd was in the attacker, according to the report. He changed his shirt but wore the same shorts as in the video.
