OAK CREEK, WI Feb 23 2020— Police in Oak Creek say a man accused of stealing clothing from Meijer was also wanted in Alabama stemming from an assault charge. According to Oak Creek police call logs, officers were sent to the Meijer at just after 1 a.m. on Feb. 20 on a report of a retail theft. Police said a person stole about $220 in merchandise. Oak Creek police said the suspect drove away in a tan vehicle and headed east on Drexel Ave. Police said an officer on patrol spotted the getaway car and stopped it on the 100 block of W. Drexel Ave. a short time later. Police said the driver and a passenger switched seats inside the car once it was stopped by police. According to police, officers found clothing with Meijer tags inside the vehicle. Police checked with Meijer employees and learned that one of the three people inside the car was the retail theft suspect they were looking for. Oak Creek police said they cited the man for retail thief and for operating a car with a suspended license. Police said they also learned that the man was wanted out of Macon County, Alabama for a probation violation after he was originally charged with assault
