Oswego woman claimed to have coronavirus and spit in nurse’s face
Aurora IL May 18 2020 A woman who claimed to have COVID-19 was arrested after she spit in a nurse’s face at an Aurora hospital, police said.
Officers responded to Mercy Hospital to assist hospital security just after midnight on Monday after a woman, who claimed she tested positive for COVID-19, had allegedly spit on a nurse’s face and walked out of the hospital, police said in a news release Friday.
Cynthia Meyers, 33, of Oswego was charged with aggravated battery to a nurse, a felony, Kane County court records show.
Police learned Meyers, of the 200 block of South Springbrook Trail, checked herself into the hospital for trouble breathing.
Medical staff was giving Meyers treatment, but after some time, she decided she wanted to leave. The nurse told her she needed to sign discharge paperwork before leaving the hospital, but the woman refused, lunged towards the nurse, and spitting in her face, officials said.
Meyers is due in court June 17.
