Police capture men breaking into TN Ross For Less store
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. April 21 2020— The Johnson City Police Department reports around 5 a.m. Sunday morning they arrested 52-year-old Bobby Thompson and 37-year-old Benjamin Hyatt on charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, and theft over $2,500.
Hyatt was also charged with 16 counts of criminal simulation when he was reportedly found to be in possession of counterfeit currency, according to officials.
Just before 5 a.m. officers report they responded to an alarm at Ross Department Store on Peoples Street where they observed two individuals in the building.
According to authorities, the suspects entered an adjoining vacant business by prying a back door open and busted through an adjoining wall to gain access into Ross’s.
The suspects were in the process of taking thousands of dollars worth of items back through the hole when officers arrived and took them into custody, according to their report.
Thompson and Hyatt are being held in the Washington County Detention Center and have an arraignment scheduled for Monday, April 20, 2020.
