Security guard injured during shots fired incident at West Palm Beach apartment complex
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. Dec 4 2020
A security guard was hit by a vehicle and injured at the Caribbean Villas Apartments in West Palm Beach Wednesday night.
West Palm Beach police say the aggravated battery happened just before 10:30 at 5865 Caribbean Blvd.
Officers were alerted to the area by ShotSpotter (gunshot detection).
According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, an armed security officer for the complex was injured by the suspect’s vehicle.
The incident occurred after the victim engaged the suspect in a conversation while the suspect was inside a vehicle.
The suspect fled from the security officer but struck the victim with the vehicle.
During the encounter, the security officer fired at the suspect’s vehicle.
No one was struck by any gunfire, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was later located.
