Security guard shoots, kills man following altercation on Miami-Dade public bus
MIAMI-DADE, FLA. Sept 15 2020 A security guard shot and killed a man in Northwest Miami-Dade.
The shooting took place at the Golden Glades Park and Ride, located at 16000 Street Road, Monday morning.
According to Miami-Dade Police, a man boarded a Miami-Dade County public bus at approximately 7:24 a.m. and got into a dispute with the bus driver.
“A male entered one of the transit buses, had a verbal dispute with the bus driver and he was told to get off,” said Miami-Dade Police Det. Argemis Colome. “He walks inside his vehicle and sits in the backseat, causing a dispute with him and, again, he goes back inside the bus.”
The bus driver ended up exiting the vehicle before a female security guard arrived at the scene.
The security guard also got into an altercation with the passenger which ended in gunfire.
“Once she gets on the scene, the male was still inside of the bus refusing to leave,” said Colome. “She has an altercation with him, and that’s when she discharged her firearm.”
The man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
No one else was on the bus at the time of the shooting.
Police have shut down the parking lot as they investigate.
Police have not revealed the identity of the victim.
They said they hope surveillance video from the bus park will help them better understand how the shooting played out.
