Security officer bravely disarms rioters of AR-15 in Seattle protest
Seattle WA June 1 2020
A brave security guard was caught on video expertly disarming a rioter who had picked up a stolen AR-15 from a patrol car during the Justice for George Floyd protest in Seattle.
One rioter took an AR-15 out of a damaged police vehicle, causing a scary scene in Downtown Seattle.
Q13 FOX’s Brandi Kruse reports the rioter began firing the weapon into cars, but “no one was hurt” as far as they were able to tell.
Thanks to the quick work of a Q13 FOX Seattle security guard, the rioter was quickly disarmed.
The armed security officer swiftly approached the Seattle rioter. He appears to demand the rioter give up the weapon. The rioter, in a black hoodie and blue bandanna over his face, obliged. His friends? They quickly ran away from the security officer.
The unnamed security guard disabled the AR-15 while Kruse’s team called 9-1-1 to report this incident and then hand over the weapon to the Seattle Police Department.
Mayor Jenny Durkan announced during a press briefing that it’s possible a second AR-15 was stolen but has not yet been recovered. But later in the evening, Kruse tweeted that the security team also confiscated a stolen AR-15 from another rioter and handed it over to police.
As I explained on air, our security guard felt that the public was in danger. He took the AR 15 from the rioter and disabled it. We called 911 and waited to hand it over and continue our reporting.
