Security Officers Kill 3 -Injure 2 In Multiple Incidents

Violence during the past twenty-four hours have left three persons dead and two others shot by private security officers.
Police in Salt Lake City Utah said that a man who allegedly opened fire in a crowded downtown Salt Lake City nightclub was shot killed by a security guard early Saturday morning.
Salt Lake City Police Lt. Carlos Valencia said that officers responded to calls of an “active shooter” coming from Club Echo at 134 W. Pierpont Ave. about 1:30 a.m.When police arrived they found a gravely wounded man lying face down in the doorway of the club.
Witnesses told investigators that the man had been in the club earlier in the evening, only to leave and come back through a side door. Once inside, he allegedly pulled a gun and began firing into the ceiling.
Valencia said as people fled the bar a security guard spotted the suspect taking aim at a patron. The security officer fired at least one shot, mortally wounding the gunman who staggered to the club’s doorway and collapsed, Valencia said.
Valencia said a Salt Lake City police sergeant was attempting to perform CPR when he was assaulted by two bystanders. Fellow officers subdued the men who were taken into custody. The sergeant sustained minor injuries, according to Valencia. No one else was reported hurt.
Atlanta police said that they are investigating an attempted robbery where several people were shot by a security guard.
The incident happened overnight outside the Kiss Ultra Lounge nightclub on the 400 block of Whitehall Street.
According to police, a man was being held up outside the club when a security guard intervened and opened fire, shooting the would-be robber.
The suspect is now in the hospital in critical condition. Police say a second man was also shot but is expected to survive. It is unclear if he was involved or a bystander.
Police did not say if the person shot was armed.
A security officer fatally shot a man at an apartment complex in Los Angeles County according to the sheriff’s department.
The security officer and another person were involved in an argument when the man produced a weapon and the security guard shot him.
In Dallas Texas, police are still investigating the fatal shooting of a woman was killed by a security officer who was also shot.
Some type of disturbance led to both of them to shoot at each other during a confrontation at a motel in northwest Dallas.
Police responded at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday to the shooting in the lobby of the Motel 6 at Regal Row and Stemmons Freeway near Love Field.
The woman and the armed security officer each pulled guns and fired at each other. As the woman got into her vehicle and was driving away, the security guard continued shooting at her SUV.
The bullet-riddled SUV came to a stop in a nearby parking lot. The woman was found dead inside.
The security officer was taken to a Dallas hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have not said if the security guard will face any charges.
On Friday, in Salem Oregon a security officer working at the Goodwill facility, was critically stabbed by a robbery and has been left with life-threatening injuries.
Salem police officers responded to a reported fight at the Goodwill on Edgewater Street NW around 11 a.m. Friday. Police said the store’s Loss Prevention Officer, Matthew Thompson, stopped and detained a man for stealing. A fight had ensued, during which police said the suspect stabbed Thompson. He was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, said police.
The suspect, identified as Sean Graham, was arrested by Salem police officers after bystanders helped keep the man from leaving the scene.
Graham will be charged with attempted murder, assault, robbery, and the unlawful use of a weapon once lodged in the Polk County Jail, said police.
A second serious stabling of a security officer in Waikiki Hawaii has left a security officer seriously injured early Tuesday.
Authorities said it happened around 12:10 a.m. near the Sheraton Waikiki on Kalakaua Avenue.
Emergency Medical Services treated and transported the 40-year-old man to the hospital in serious condition. An investigation is still underway.
There have been 48 non-COVID-19 related deaths of on-duty security officers and 183 COVID-19 related deaths of private security officers bringing the total number of deaths to 231.
