Warren OH man arrested for assaulting Trumbull Regional Medical Center security
WARREN Oh Sept 7 2020 — A Warren man was charged with four counts of aggravated assault early Friday after he allegedly fought with security guards at Trumbull Regional Medical Center while refusing to be treated.
Charges were filed against Zachary Mechling, 26, 228 Dickey Ave. NW, Apt. 2, in Warren Municipal Court, the police report states.
Mechling was seen under the influence of drugs and talking to himself in the woods in the area of Mason Street and Hillsdale Avenue NW, the report states. Officers took him to the hospital to be checked out.
At 6:10 a.m., police received a call from the emergency room doctor who said the man had assaulted four security guards, three of them female. Officers were told the patient went into a panic after hearing that he was going to be admitted to the third-floor psychiatric unit.
As he tried to leave against medical advice, security guards tried to restrain Mechling, who allegedly fought back, the report said. One female guard was struck in the face, another had redness on her knees. The doctor told officers they have no reason to hold the man and Mechling was transported to the Trumbull County jail without incident, the report states.
